Seven agencies received a mark of eight (excellent) in this year’s School Reports, published yesterday (23 April).

The agencies at the top of the class of 2024 included two creative agencies, three media shops, a brand experience agency and a business with a customer engagement heritage.

The top-scoring shops were: Amplify, Hearts & Science, Leo Burnett UK, Mother, OMD Group, TMW Unlimited and Walk-In Media.

None of the 99 agencies in the School Reports received a mark of nine (outstanding) for their work in 2023.

A snapshot of the top agencies and their performances last year can be found below:

Amplify

Amplify won Campaign’s Brand Experience Agency of the Year at the Campaign Agency of the Year Awards and created standout work for PlayStation 5 and Pinterest.

Hearts & Science

The Omnicom media agency won Jaguar Land Rover’s global media account and National Lottery operator, Allwyn. Hearts & Science’s headcount grew 48% to 130.

Leo Burnett UK

The Publicis Groupe shop became joint creative agency for the National Lottery alongside VCCP, beat Adam & Eve/DDB in the final stage of the Confused.com pitch and created “Raise your arches” for McDonald’s.

Mother

Mother consistently high quality creative work for brands including Uber in 2023. Felix Richter, chief creative officer, secured the top spot in Campaign’s Creatives list and Creative Leader of the Year at the Agency of the Year Awards.

OMD Group

Both shops in OMD Group had successful years in 2023: Manning Gottlieb OMD won the Metropolitan Police, Under Armour and Vans, while OMD UK landed Beiersdorf.

TMW Unlimited

TMW Unlimited scooped 31 pieces of new business in 2023, including Oak Furnitureland, and boosted its income by 15% year on year to more than £40m.

Walk-in Media

Walk-in Media took over Burger King’s £16m media account from Dentsu and expanded its in-house data analytics capabilities.

In the 2023 School Reports 10 agencies scored an eight: Adam & Eve/DDB, Amplify, Initiative, Leo Burnett UK, Rapp, Spark Foundry, Uncommon Creative Studio, VCCP, We Are Social and XYZ (now 160over90).

There was also one glowing agency with a nine (outstanding) OMD Group.
